The Lake Clinic has held weekly Mothers Clubs meetings since 2007. Here, women learn about important topics such as children’s upbringing and nutrition, hygiene, contraception and how to make good choices for their own and their family’s health.
The goal of this training is to lower the mortality rate for mothers and children living on the lake. The Lake Clinic team does this not only by teaching, but by demonstrating the positive effects of good hygiene rituals, complex nutrition and a proper understanding of women’s needs when it comes to health.
This concept has become incredibly popular and they are seeing great positive ripple effects. Life on the lake can be isolated and lonely, and the women have expressed great joy at the feeling of being part of a network where they can safely exchange experiences and learn with others who are in the same situation.
